It's Friday Happy Hour!

It's almost 5 p.m....for me 4:30 is the magic hour, as that is when I get off work. I found this recipe for "Irish Tea" on about.com. It's a hot tea cocktail! I love tea and I'm a fan of the occasional sip of whiskey, so why not? I'll try it and let you know....

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 tbs loose tea, or 1 tea bag
  • 1 oz whisky
  • 1 oz milk or cream
  • 1 tsp sugar

PREPARATION:

Brew tea in hot water for 3-5 minutes, then strain out tea. Add whiskey and other ingredients, then serve.

Wow!

After a fun evening out with our friend Jim in midtown, I didn't get home until around 9 p.m. Laze around and watch Scrubs? Clean up the apartment for my sister's family's visit this weekend? Naaah I'll use up some of those beads I bought at the bead fair. One less choking hazard around for my nephew's visit, I thought! Anyway I'm glad I did it- it sold this morning! Here it is, it's personally one of my favorites, and is called "Not Your Grandmother's Strand of Pearls". Now only if someone would buy that matching pair of earrings....

Sinterklaas: A Crafty Tradition

Apaprently in Holland, Santa Claus is just known as a fat guy in a red suit. The man who gives them their presents instead is Sinterklaas, along with Zwarte Piet, his helper. He's a bishop dressed in red robes and a red mitre, and he arrives in Holland (and Belgium) on a steamboat from Spain! How cool! Read the full article on Etsy's Storque. My etsy fave of the day

I have a two, almost three-year-old nephew who I adore. He makes me crack up everytime I talk to him. He loves pirates, so this would be a perfect Christmas/Hanukkah gift for him. Isn't it adorable? You can purchase it and other adorable dress-up clothes through visiting herflyinghorses.

A custom order completed!

So I'm trying hard to post a new item on my etsy shop everyday, but it hasn't been easy. Last night I completed a custom order for my friend Amy, who's giving it away as a Christmas present. Here it is! I'm hoping to be able to do another one tonight, but we'll see, am supposed to get Indian food with friends tonight in Midtown Manhattan.

By the way, leave me a comment with suggestions of names for my upcoming pieces of jewelry. Maybe something Christmas Eve related? Or something to do with battling the crowds at the mall? Let me know!

You can see this and all of my creations at my etsy shop.

My first blog post

Well, after hemming and hawing for quite some time as to whether I should start my own blog, I decided to "go for it" after being inspired by my fellow artisans on etsy and my own sister. I thought to myself "who would read it?" and "who cares what I ate for breakfast?" Truth is I'm still not sure who will care, but I intend on posting a variety of items that will hopefully be interesting such as updates on my etsy jewelry business, websites you can waste your time on at work, things I would buy if I had more money, and maybe a fun "Friday Happy Hour" drink recipe or two. Welcome to my own little corner of the Internet!
